We’ve sent chefs all over the world to cater for our high profile clients, from Los Angeles to Argentina. Bringing back a wealth of knowledge and experience about food in these parts of the world, knowledge which we are delighted to share.
We are a member of the Restaurant & Catering Association of NSW and are a recognised Gold Licence caterer. We also hold a liquor licence with the NSW Government Liquor Administration Board.
In conducting our business we adhere to the high industry standard in food safety policy and work safety procedures and we have a quality assurance and HACCP plan implemented throughout our company.
Piquant Catering is owned and run by Carl Nicholls with his wife Justine Nicholls. Together Carl and Justine have over 40 years experience in all facets of the hospitality industry including boutique and large hotels, some of Sydney’s well-known restaurants and other high-end catering companies.
After completing his apprenticeship, Carl worked with Serge Dansereau while at The Regent of Sydney, before travelling extensively overseas to further his career and training.
Carl’s widespread experience in a variety of cuisines has allowed him to be creative with menus and has assisted in developing his signature style, as seen throughout the Piquant menus.
Carl spent 5 years with the Truffle Group, one of Sydney’s premier catering and events companies at the time. While at the Truffle Group, Carl worked as Head Chef and then Operations Manager.
His catering and operational knowledge lead him to project manage large events like Mercedes Australian Fashion Week, Myer Store Opening, Chanel Fashion Show and numerous large charity events such as Sydney Children’s Hospital Annual Gold Dinner and Sydney’s biggest event, the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games catering for major sponsors such as Nike and Samsung and numerous SOCOG events.
Piquant Catering was launched in 2002 and has continued to provide clients with innovative food, premium beverage and stellar events ever since. We have been privileged to cook for and serve some of the world’s most prominent figures.
Our business has grown organically through word of mouth and repeat business. We have won a number of industry awards in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2017. We are preferred caterers for many venues, companies and decision-makers in and around Sydney.
